What is the level?

This is a Level 2 class for intermediate to advanced Jazz Roots dancers. You should already have some vintage jazz dance experience. You must know the Shim Sham routine well. You should know the 1920s Charleston basics already and know most of the classic jazz steps including Suzie Q, Fall Off The Log, Shorty George, Boogie Back, Boogie Forward, Eagle Slide, Truckin’, Boogie Drops, Squat Charleston, Skating, Fishtails, Tacky Annie, Half Breaks, Gaze Afar, etc. You are confident with core concepts like counting jazz music, starting on 8 vs starting on 1 and phrasing/stucture in jazz songs. You should be comfortable to learn a routine in class, or to work on improvisation. You should be starting to think about your personal style. You’re interested in levelling up with skills like turns/spins, slides, breaks, rhythm, style, musicality and improvisation.

Is this a walk-in class or a course?

This is a drop-in class, so you can start anytime and drop in when you like. You don’t need to take these classes in any particular order and it’s no problem if you miss a week or attend irregularly.
